This program introduces students to word processing and its many applications in the business world. Skilled Administrative Assistants are in great demand by both large corporations and small independent businesses. Students will have the opportunity to learn today’s most popular word processing software applications.

Admissions Requirements
  • Grade 12 or equivalent, or Mature Student Status.
  • An admissions interview will be administered to determine if the applicant has the required interest, motivation, and entry-level skills to take this program.
  • Successful completion of Entrance Assessment.
  • Full time students must attend the required hours per week as per the course schedule and may do so at times convenient to them.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performs a variety of administrative and clerical functions.

Business Administration Diploma

The Business Administration Diploma is designed to prepare students for the demands of today’s fast-paced business environment. Its objective is to expose students to a vast array of business knowledge, management and administration skills, and practical tools that will assist them in dealing with situations within a business-related career. Courses focus on professional skills required by today’s employers, including knowledge of how businesses utilize technology, e-commerce, business correspondence, office procedures, project management, and employment success strategies.

Community Service Worker Diploma

With the aging population, the tremendous advancements in technology, and our demand for the best quality of life, the healthcare industry is facing a growing shortage of well-trained personnel. Throughout the North American healthcare industry, there is an acute need to increase the size of the workforce and raise the skill level of that workforce.

A well-trained Community Service Worker (CSW) is equipped for a flexible, adaptable career. Social and community service workers administer and implement a variety of social assistance programs and community services. They assist clients to address personal and social problems. They are employed by social service and government agencies, mental health agencies, group homes, shelters, substance abuse centres, school boards, correctional facilities, and other establishments.

Admissions Requirements
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • 19 years of age or older (varies, depending on province-specific ministry requirements).
  • Grade 12 or equivalent, or Mature Student Status.
  • Successful completion of Entrance Assessment.
  • Adequate level of physical health to be able to fulfill job requirements.
  • Other medical tests or proof of vaccinations may be required by industry prior to placement.
  • Good command of the English language, both written and oral.
Objectives
  • Comprehensive community service worker knowledge, including psychology, sociology, family life, mental health, addictions, criminology, at-risk populations, case management, counselling, ethics, business communication, report writing, and government and social services.
  • Full range of computer and office skills, including current software applications, keyboarding skills, and personal and professional development.
  • On-site work experience through participation in a 150 hour Clinical Placement at an approved CSW facility.

The objective of the Computerized Accounting Diploma program is to provide the student with the opportunity to acquire knowledge of business concepts, as well as gain the necessary computerized accounting and office skills. This program will provide graduates with the necessary skills to maintain a complete set of books, keep records of accounts, verify the procedures used for recording financial transactions, and provide personal bookkeeping services.

Health Care Aide Diploma

The purpose of this program is to enable students to acquire the knowledge and skills required to provide personal care and support services to patients, residents, clients and families in both community and institutional settings. This program is designed to provide the knowledge and practical skills training required for an employment-ready trained graduate as a Health Care Aide.
Admissions Requirements
  • Grade 12 or equivalent, or Mature Student Status (19 years of age or older).
  • Passing score on literacy test.
  • Fluency in English (oral and written).
  • Canadian Language Benchmark* scores indicating achievement of a minimum of level 6 in the speaking, listening, and reading tests.
  • Physical wellness to complete the practical components of the program.
  • Up-to-date immunizations, Criminal Record checks, Adult, Child and Vulnerable Persons Abuse checks.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain good working relationships with all members of the health care team.
  • Promote safety and work in a safe manner.
  • Practice universal precautions and maintain a clean working environment.
  • Provide emotional and social support services to patients, clients, residents, and their families.
  • Assist with ambulation, proper positioning, mobilization and body alignment as required. (SCHIPP)
  • Assist with range of motion exercises and other rehabilitative measures.
  • Assist with physical and mechanical lifts and/or transfers.
  • Perform laundry tasks: change bed linens, towels.
  • Assist with activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, toileting, etc.
  • Assist with feeding, dietary planning, meal preparation, food handling, and calculation of fluid intake and output.
  • Report and record vital signs: blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respirations, and body weight and height.
  • Collect various specimens for required medical tests.
  • Work as a supportive health care aide for palliative care and hospice patients.
  • Observe and report clinical and treatment findings, and changes in behaviour and ongoing conditions.
  • Document all procedures and maintain records.

The training in the Health Care Aide program provides the opportunity to develop the skills needed to assist patients, clients or residents with meeting their physical, emotional and social needs, and activities of daily living, in the following settings: hospitals, personal care homes, and private residences, as well as other health care facilities.

Medical Receptionist Diploma

Graduates from the Medical Receptionist Diploma program will be able to work effectively in any medical office as a receptionist. After completing this diploma they will have the acquired skills to enable them to meet and greet patients, direct them to appropriate services, answer telephones, take messages, schedule appointments and perform other routine administrative tasks.
